African Fashion Show in Zanzibar

African Fashion Show In Zanzibar

East African people started enjoying th fashion show since 2013 as a  FASHION WEEK ZANZIBAR. Fashion Week Zanzibar is a new initiative dedicated to celebrating fashion created in or inspired by the beautiful island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The festival of fashion will be held at locations around Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar archipelago.

The event was first launched in 2013 with great success. This event focus to present and promote African fashion. Fashion Week Zanzibar showcase the best and traditional style in the region. Set off the coast of East Africa, in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean, the style of Zanzibar has many influences. Rich Swahili culture blends here with Indian, Arab and European influences, brought here for centuries on trade winds. The unique culture, paradise setting, and Zanzibar's status as a cosmopolitan hub of trade all influence the designs created and inspired by the archipelago.

At Fashion Week Zanzibar, see the freshest, newest styles created by Zanzibar's established and up and coming designers. Drawing from centuries of cultural collisions, the brightly colored traditional patterns of kanga and kitenge from Eastern Africa, and a one-of-a-kind modern island sensibility, designs showcased at Fashion Week Zanzibar will showcase the best and most unique style in the region. Most of the year Fashion Week Zanzibar held at the end of the year.

Fashion Week Zanzibar idea was born by three people who love fashion and recognize the burgeoning fashion industry in Zanzibar.

Those honorable are Javed Jafferji, Farokh Abdalla and Adnan Abbas. They decided to celebrate Zanzibar’s unique up-and-coming fashion and create a festival dedicated to one-of-a-kind island fashion flavor. The decision to create a Fashion Week Zanzibar was made on the spur of the moment and the whirlwind hasn’t stopped since. The FWZ has evolved and grown all on its own, becoming more than a festival now – it has become a community event, involving people from all over the island, and a celebration of all things fashion and Zanzibari style.
